    jpflat2a what's that noise?

Yep..if they won't fit a stock Jeep with stock mounts, what's the point then.

Have tried both sides on the drivers side and the collector is less than an 1/8” difference in location fore/aft and port to starboard
The passenger side (either since they are effectively the same) will not fit up against the block like the drivers side (and it would dump directly over driveshaft) - (why don't they work with factory mounts?).
Picture 1 above shows tube hitting frame mount and rubber mount without seating at exhaust ports.

Please remember even though the heads are the same the supplied collectors are not centered between the cylinders- pic 2 above so when on drivers side the collector is farther away from the motor mount.

Novak says the headers are the same side to side. Craig is going to ask Eric what if any differences Warloch’s headers are to mine. Note his fit between starter and frame and mine are made to fit in front of starter not beside it. And they require a mini starter- definitely not a mini starter in Warloch’s pictures

unless they can solve the problem for you . or allow you to return them
I myself can't see the same header fitting both sides
would you be willing to bolt both head flanges together . just so we can see what they look like (exit)
manifolds or fenderwell headers . but I am on my third set of fenderwell headers . rust out

Are you swapping this engine in ?
Your mounts, although factory, don't appear to be factory welded.
    Just curious. Tell us more.

Bought a 1953 M38A1 with unfortunately a Buick 198, the drivers mount and a mangled passenger mount. (Same mounts) dropped from military service in ‘62 w the 198 then added.
The frame was cracked in 4 places, enter new to me 1962 frame from Don and a NOS passenger mount from the bay.
Added the mounts/ 225 motor, fully boxed the frame, relocated suspension and added yj old man emu springs. Outboarding rear springs w off set dana 60.
    On and on

They asked for more pictures and Eric thinks I may have wrong headers - possible light at end of tunnel!:)

Warloch Did you say Flattie??? Staff Member

I would be shocked if those are the right ones - You might want to tell him you have looked at mine from when I helped him design them and they are defiantly not the same. He wanted to make sure the headers worked with stock mounts and his after market ones.

I specifically had him note and he made changes for the starter. ******* across the street is running a set of these as well.

Do you have a similar picture on the driver side? Give me some ideas on what I will have to do with steering shaft.
    Thanks,

Will grab some pictures with header and steering linkage held in position in morning (not finished yet w my tilt column from a later CJ, moving slightly the stock M38A1 steering column base and dash position to be in a more optimal position)

I hope you continue this thread as you route this exhaust to the rear, It should very to helpful to folks wanting to use these same headers.

Used a later model mount, boxed the frame and added a much heavier frame to frame plate (not yet bolted to frame or top plate- noting clamp in pic). Minimizing bump steer w the new springs ( though it does hang lower like the newer jeep boxes)

Steering shaft needs a little more clearance on backside of factory crossmember, shown in top pic (will scallop out and plate/weld). Clears motor mount as planned!

Since there is a double joint - due to angle, will be using the support “heim” as required on frame in pic with a bracket.

Little tab in top pic is base of adjustable sway bar mount- has easily removable heim to heim connection to axle. Have same setup in rear.
