Drove A New One

    Brand new 2dr auto. Rental, had my pick if a bunch of cars, and one jeep.

    The good is its so much like a car you dont realize youre in a jeep. The bad? Same comment. Also, it shudders like a scared puppy at stops. If stopped long enough (noy long at all, actually) it turns off.

    For the $28k msrp range this is way low on my list. Buy who am I kidding. I wony spend that for any vehicle.

    Chilly, I hear you on the shutting off at a stop light . What's up with that ? I was told it's a designed to save fuel & emissions? They can't explain how the wear & tear on the starter, battery, wiring system save's us anything , for 30 K ! :( ( I understand that one can presently turn that mode off. Don't know about rentals, though ? )

    I found a dash button to inhibit that shut off feature.

    Have looked at some Rubicon's. Still a Jeep, looks like they did this one right.
    Electronic sway bar disconnects, Lockers. If I get a newer Jeep for longer trips, it will be a Rubicon.

    The start stop models have a heavier duty starter and alt. To be honest, once you get used to it they arent bad. There's about 2 pages of inhibitors to keep it running. If something is wrong where it wouldnt restart it wont turn off. -- low battery for example...

    You can turn them off by hitting the dash button each start, but no way to permanently dissable. They passed emissions that way, they stay that way.

    Tazer for the JL can turn on or off, plus many other functions.
