I Bought this Jeep with a 4 " lift . It's too high for this Ol' man & his Girl ! I've got the Tires & wheels for sale & I want to go back to 15" tires & Wheels I would like to drop it to a 2" or Stock ? What advice can any one offer ? I can post more Pics , If it would help. Thanks, in advance.....

For clarification purposes...is it still set up with springs under the axle? Swapping back to stock height or less lift springs is pretty easy. If it's spring over its a bit more work. Also what length shackle do you have...they may well be a bit longer and going a bit shorter to stock length may also help. Finally you could consider removing a leaf from the spring pack so it settles down more under the jeeps weight.

Starting to get the hang of this.... Thanks for your patience, ITLKSEZ I Really appreciate your reply..... Anyway , it is setup with Springs under the Axel. Looks to be a 4" Shackle , Center of bolt to bolt ? Thanks...........Pictures are Here. I'm sorry, I've had a difficult time navigating the Pic's posting process. I'm doing it thru 'Albums" now.

you can use ' upload a file' just on the right of the 'post reply' button but you must adapt the size of the pic, around 200ko that is very easy.

Judging by what I can see, the springs don't look to have much of a lift at all, but it's hard to tell in a picture. The shackles are longer than stock, but even 2" of increased shackle height will only gain you 1" of lift, so that isn't giving you a significant amount. Maybe start with the proper size tires and see where you end up?

I agree that the springs seem pretty flat and stockish. Also agree about the shackles. I am curious to see the frame where the springs mount and the shackles mount.

Tires don't look huge either, maybe 31s. But add it all together and you might be 2-3" taller than stock between the longer shackles and taller tires.

Lets see where the springs mount if you can get a shot of that.

I concur with both of the above...spring under with fairly flat, non arched springs....I think oem shackle length would be 2.75" bolt to bolt so there is a little lift there...1/2 to 3/4 inch. Wonder what size tire has been stuffed in there? Does it have a body lift?

This Frame was modified awhile ago. IE: The front was extended with box channels, to make room for a 700R4 GM Overdrive Tranny. Anyway , thanks for all your interest, help , & suggestions. Here's the other Pics you've wondered about.........

I see nothing on the spring mount areas in their current position, that would raise the jeep though, they have been modified to some degree.

I do see aftermarket body mounts that appear to be much thicker than the factory pieces. So, it seems to me that there is a bit of a body lift. Maybe an inch or a bit more. Unless the intermediate mounts are different from the early mounts. Entirely possible. I don't know that much about the intermediates.

How tall are you and your missus?

Admittedly, you have to step (up and over) higher than normal compared to a common automobile even at the same floor height because the Jeep has a raised entryway.

I do hereby request a side view of the entire Jeep (preferably with a yardstick placed in the center of the wheel wells).

Them's are some purdy red leaf springs though. :sneak:

Them red propeller shafts are purdy too. Why I've never seen a Jeep so clean on its underbelly that you could eat off'n it.

    I'm enjoying these pics, man.

When I had my CJ5 (82) I had to add a step to stand on to get my hind end up over door curve to get in, I fear I will have the same issue with my CJ6. Both Jeeps are/were lifted 4". The "hump" was just to far from the ground to "bounce" up and over.
