Tow Bar

looking at replacing my very old tow bar that the PO had. The ball couple does not inspire confidence, plus it's heavy and lastly, it does not adjust so when not in use I either have to leave it on the front (not a fan of that) or its heavy and comberson to remove. There is a slick tow bar a few folks here have set up, It ties in to the rear axle brakes and used a surge brake coupler. I am using an old U- Haul bar that folds up nicely but my step up will be one with brakes.

 

I've been using one similar to your Amazon link since the very early '90's. It is a USA built unit from Curt I bought from Dick Cepek in San Diego. Made a simple wire harness that plugs into a receptacle on the drivers side firewall, making it a no-brainer to connect/ disconnect. No built in method for stowing it in the "up" position when driving, but I'm not a fan of that as I've seen the frame damage results if they fall forward when driving... Thousands of miles using that tow bar without a single issue.
