A little while ago I bought a 46 CJ2a that had been in one ranch family for many, many years. The seller included five rims and old tires that he thought were original to the Willys (it was sitting on more modern tires). The rims were painted white with what seems like latex. Today I started picking at a loose flake, which led to getting a cheap chisel out and picking some more. I don't plan on picking all the pain off on all the rims but thought someone might want to see the little bit of original wheel paint that I uncovered.

The Willys was originally Normandy blue. I am not sure that I could live with the blue and red combo.

That's neat--a red steel rim with a pinstripe.

Sorry to hear about your color prejudice.

That's sweet. Same factory wheel color/detail as my dad's '46.

Preserve patina, or sand/soda blast to new condition.
    Great either way...!

If the paint chiseled off easy, I bet a pressure washer would return those to their original glory.

That's what mine were like when I bought them, supposedly off a 2A.

That's them alright. Pin stripes could be navy blue or black on the red rims from what I've read. I thought mine were black but on the back of the bigger latex peelings you see a blue pin stripe.

Good for you, they look great, keep cleaning them until you get them all done. Easy for us to say, but we want to see them completely clean. Don't worry, we will include plenty of social media support.
