Huh? What Kind Of Rear Tail Lights?

hey all as I continue my rebirth of this Jeep I have another confusing piece. Not an expert but I haven’t seen these tail light shape before.

Anyone?

Doesn’t seem to be a 63 CJ5 at least. You can what the tub had cut and what the PO did.

 

That light looks like a YJ era.

 

the cut out is covered by diamond plate and that’s the one I am trying to figure out.

 

The rectangular lights are '76 and up.

'63 should be the Hall tail light. I thnk you can buy repops from the Jeep retailers like Walck's. Looks like you have a big cut-out. Maybe somebody can give you a pattern to fill it in.

 

Can you post a better pic of the cut out area?

Im with Pete, that light you currently have is a YJ/TJ or commercial truck body type light that someone has cut down.

The more i look at it it looks like it was a PO cutting...The top hole where the current lights are attached and feeding wires looks like more original...but who knows...i dont.

 

Just a broken corner, I think.

 

yeah they are just trashed not altered.

 

Somebody's ambulance is missing it's taillights.

 

Those upper holes look correct for clear backup lights, similar in shape to the amber front turn/running lights. The big hole is a mystery. Is the other side cut out the same?

yes for other hole...I agree the other holes, besides the wired one would fit the correct date style Hall Lights when i looked them up.
