I decided that Doug, colojeepguy, is right. Black wheels are so lame. I picked up some “sand” rustoleum spray cans and went to town on Teds wheels. They look amazing. I can’t wait until tomorrow when they are dry! Next up is the red jeep. It’s going to get red wheels.

Cheap playing cards work great when painting wheels with tires.

Now let’s see who else is brave enough to change wheel color.

I love the thread, but I'm not painting my brushed aluminum wheels any color.

I like black wheels... and silver ones, and red ones, gray ones, tan ones. It'd be easier to list what I don't like

Chrome and bright green. That's all that comes to mind.

When using cheap cards just don't use the ones they sell at casinos. They all got holes in the middle.

I did mine with age. I wish I could reproduce that look for the top and doors!

Looks great, Nate. I wonder what type or style or color of wheel a government/Forest Service vehicle would have been delivered with. Be neat to see some color pics of such a thing. Maybe a pinstripe around the centers?

Ted is one of my favorite JEEPs. You could set on fire and roll it down a hill and it would still be a favorite.

Some of these videos have been shared here before, awesome work and worth watching in their entirety, but you can fast forward to 14:00 in the attached if you want to see how he "antiques" the finish. Probably a pile-o-money to be made if a guy can perfect this on full scale vehicles using quality paint products...
