Mine is the rotary type. Loosened the set screw and it came right off.

Yes, my fan control has a set screw on the rotary.

The other slide handle to adjust the heat temp?

I edited my post, there was a typo.

I don't think a 3D knob would look good. The 3D printer's end result isn't smooth. You can see and feel the layers.

Is it something that could be printed say a millimeter bigger and then sanded smooth?

    Probably.

What happened to the one I sent you to copy and 3d print?

I can send to Fokker. Last I heard there was one local to him to use for pattern? lmk if one is needed.
I'm looking as casting with reinforced resin. I also think one can easily be reproduced in aluminum.
easy to cut, file and sand.

    You didn't send me one.
I don't remember why this fell through.

    I like this idea...

I sent the control to NCRenII. I guess you never got it to copy?

Greevesman I received the controls today and the knob looks perfect. Many thanks for the help and sending this my way.
Focker, do you have any suggestions as to how I can get the scanning done? I plan to check locally, but living in a rural area may be problematic. I'm good with this knob and hope that others that need replacements will be willing to step up and help with getting some made.
Maybe it would be best to post a separate thread?

Please check p.m.'s we were last corresponding.
Last I heard Fokker thought he had one local, and would update here.
I have the one you sent awaiting direction.
As Fokker wrote above he liked Kz400 post, yet who can do modelling?

I have two alternative means. first is fairly easy for me. Make a silicone mold and cast in plastic resin. Second is to make it out of billet aluminum and anodize or powdercoat black.
The latter would be more durable.
Regardless I glued and re-threaded the original Grevesman sent and will be making a mold of it from silicone.
Does anyone know how/where to get 3d modelling done?

    I'd like to propose that:
I'll send original to Focker for scanning and file goes to Kz400 for printing. The file needs to be archived someplace for future use by people needing a replacement.
I recently laid eyes on another item made from 3d printing and found that it may not be durable. This is why I'm looking at casting, or machining.
Can the 3d scanning model be used for cnc? I feel the aluminum may be the best alternative.
At this time who all is needing a knob?

Did you get the decal installed? How did it come out? How easy was it to do?

If anyone tried making a 3D printed one...
    1) Did it crack or require a set screw be drilled and tapped to have enough grip? I am going to try my hand at a 3D printed version.
    2) Did anyone make a file for it that wouldn’t mind sharing as well?
    3) Any idea of where to get a replacement rotary fan switch for it to go on? My 12V+ terminal broke off and I’ve thought about repairing the original using a steel rivet head to replace the missing terminal contact with the mindset of “This is only temporary unless it works”

Can anyone tell me how to get the vacuum distributor to work properly? The buttons work and rotate the part that turns but I don't the vacuum signal to move to the proper port. It must not fit close enough and be leaking vacuum?

Is there any visible gap between the two halves of the vacuum actuator (round thingy)?

No, it fits flat. That's why I can't figure it out.
