    It drove great, but if it sits and idles...The slap sound starts. I'm uploading a video I took of it right after I got home. If you pull the wire off the thingy at the throttle body it should die (in theory) but doesn't. Revs high then low, slaps (knocks) then repeats the rev cycle.

    My son found out and wants it too. This is going to turn into a family rig...This is going to be fun. (y)

    I want to keep this thread open, but will move it to Quitters or Off Topic.

    Thats a bearing seizing. Look at the A/C compressor. I bet its something on the front of the engine

    ^That was my first thought too.

    If it's in the rear, check the torque converter. That is way too loud and random to be internal. I'd bet the engine is fine.

    pull the belt off

    I had a renix 4.0 with piston slap and a knock... 40K miles later sold the truck and its still being driven...

    A friend of my wife's has a Nissan crossover SUV thing that was making that same noise. It was the AC compressor.

    If that's all it is, you scored big time.
