I really have no idea tho, it was a ranch Jeep so it's been "modified" a bit. The dash is plastic and so is the windshield.

What you have there is a few different pieces of jeep- the tub is definitely from a military M38A1, the dash looks like it came from a CJ5 model built in the 60's known as a Tuxedo Park.

Mix'n'match jeeps are not uncommon so you're in good company. :)

The dash is a piece of 1/4" plastic they didn't even bother to use metal.

I agree: M38A1 tub and CJ5 dash but am eager to learn what feature makes the dash a Tux dash.

My mistake - I thought I saw a cutout for the column shifter.

It does have a cutout. Since it is plastic maybe they copied a Tux dash?

Full floater in the rear- maybe from an MB?

The windshield frame is the newest style with the curved at the top glass. From '69 or newer. It definitely needs glass, not the plastic you mentioned.

Military frame too, I think I see the machine gun mount on the crossmember.

I think the mb full float axle is a model 25. The rear axle in the picture looks like a model 44 to me - and it does look like its a full float.. Also there is a u bolt missing - be careful moving the Jeep around.

That dash looks home-made, maybe a little taller that Cj5, but not as tall as an A-1. I think that is a full float axle with like a 27 spline drive hub. The A-1 tub looks pretty solid, and it looks like a civvy F134 in there.
All in all, looks like a good start!

When I look at pictures, it is more 1870  than 1969, but with some efforts  it can become a good Jeep...:sneak:

I'm not sure it hasn't made it all the way to my driveway yet. It's sitting in my parents driveway on the trailer 3 hours away.

The full floater in the MB and early 2As was a Dana 23-2 but pretty much all the guts of it are interchangeable with the Dana 25. It has 10 spline shafts.

It looks like a Dana 44 from the partial picture. I think it's possible to take an axle shaft from the 23-2 and slide it into an early M38A1 Dana 44, also with 10 spline axle shafts. Mid '54 went to 19 spline? My A1 has a 2-54 delivery date and has 10 spline shafts. You'd have to machine the hubs and all, of course. I've thought about doing this except that the 10 spline shafts just aren't very strong- no stronger than a 25, probably. But it would give you a flanged full floater for cheap. And maybe a locker back there would strengthen it (just guessing on that)

I had the 23-2 in my 45 2A and with the L head never had a problem with the axle shafts

You could've written that in French and I would have about the same level of understanding. I took that pic because someone said they could tell what it was if they saw the under side of the rear. Here is a better pic of the axle.

Short form- you have what could be / looks like / potentially may be a Very Good axle and is, at worst, a Good axle. :)
