    Miller Weld-Mask Auto-Darkening Welding Goggles 267370

The comments are positive aside from fogging issues. I can't imagine how much of an improvement this would be over a conventional helmet in tight/confined spaces. Maybe not practical for general use, but I could see this coming in very handy a few times a year.

    Has anyone here tried this?

  2. Yep, I can see that coming in handy in tight spots. Can't count how many times the welding shield was in my way to weld something under a vehicle.

When I was working at a shop years ago, we had a leather hood you put goggles inside - just the eye holes were cut for tight places. We ran a light air hose to keep the fogging down... that was before auto darkening units so you sometimes had help getting things put in place before you struck the arc too :)

can you imagine the funny arc burn you would get without a hood?

RATTYFLATTY I think you need a little more throttle

That would be a great trail helmet. Not just when your under it and in tight places but for stowing it away. Way less bulky. But I can see fogging up might be an issue.

Concerning the hood in the OP, this is in the spec sheet:

"Supplied with Rx/Magnifying lens frame - frame can be fitted with prescription lenses and inserts quickly and easily into goggle assembly."

I have used my rx scuba mask inside my welding helmet before. Now I would have another option!

Those are really neat but at that price I could hire all my welding done and have lots of lunch money left! Sure would be fun to try them though.

I believe miller makes two different models, one can use these inserts and the other model has enough room for your personal eye glasses or safety glasses and a small miller brand respirator.

They look as if the goggle and face mask can easily be momentairly removed without need to remove the cape. would seem to me it might be less cumbersom and not so heavy when wearing while moving about. I am not experienced in a lot of welding so I might be missing something.
