I'd say that is all exactly how it should be, except OEM was an electrical gauge. (The timing gears also have a calibrated spray jet internally, from the block oil passage.)

On a '60? Don't believe there was an oil gauge. Mine is an aftermarket in one of those triple gauge holders.

You are right, of course… I was having a brain-bubble. OEM was an electrical sender, but only for the idiot light.

Pete, you are right. I don't know why I wasn't thinking about the pushrod passages. I would assume that the very thin copper line is for my non-electric oil pressure gauge which works fine. Between your explanation and the others in here, I see how this works. Thanks to all...

Someone mentioned that the M38A1 has a remote electric sender, though.

Err, yes, that was me. Perhaps the source of my confusion, since I own both military and civilian versions.

Well, some of my confusion at least. :n:

So an electric sensor for me. I have that idiot light on mine. One more question resolved. Thanks everyone!

And if you are like me, PeteL, old age is also a factor.

I may be getting older, but I see no reason to grow up. :D

Who said anything about growing up? I was refering to the confusion factor.
