Thor Winch

    Have run across a Thor winch, purchased from Desert Dynamics many years ago. Appears to be similar to a Ramsey winch. Doe anybody have any details (who,what, when, where) about this winch?

    Does it need a big hammer to make it work?

    Havent seen them before. Could it be off an old wrecker?

    No manual, but it sounds like they have parts if it is the t200

    I had one sitting in the garage for quite awhile from someone who gave it to me..... I ended up passing it along and never trying to use it.. Big gangly thing.

    Not sure about Thor, but I own a 9000lb Desert Dynamics, electric winch, It's on my car trailer now, I really need to replace the motor but it works well enough for the trailer.
    Picture is a little fuzzy but you get the idea.

    Interesting that the Thor manual lists Gardena as their location- Rhyno (that sold knock-off Ramsey winches & their own line of PTO's) was headquartered there too. :whistle:

    My CJ5 came with a Thor T-200 8000 pound from the early 70's winch and it was working when I got it. Just the set screw loosened up and the handle slipped out. About time to open it up and see if I can reset the handle and locktite the set screw.
