Not that big of a deal to me. Interesting to know, but as long as it doesn't match to a different version of a CJ5, I can keep my sobs to a minimum I suppose.

 

Same here, my 3B has a serial # that starts with 454GB2 which ended in 1954 I think, but is titled as a 55.
I guess its like buying a new car in August of 20 with a title that calls it a 21.

 

My '65 Tuxedo Park was bought new by my dad from the dealer lot on June 4, 1965. I was there a couple days before when he was looking it over. When I joined this forum, I discovered it was built in June of 1964, exactly 1 year before it was purchased. I actually have a '64 Tux!

I'm suprised nobody has identified those bolts with the shouldered spacers. The fine-thread bolt, and paired spacers are seatbelt bolts where they fasten to the floor. The shoulder spacers allow for some swivel of the triangular belt bracket the belt webs through. The coarse thread bolts are generic, with the dog-point SEM bolt likely not even from a Jeep. The dog-point bolts are often used for under body supports on cars, like on a core support.

I know I am hijacking your post but I was also trying to confirm the year of my cj5...just got it and it is titled as a 64. It has the v6...so likely swapped in a some point? Anyway, would you be willing to check your book for my serial # 8305 S 223157

New the ECJ5 forum and I’m still trying to get used to protocol. So slap me down if I get out of line here. I just started a project jeep and have no idea what I’ve got. It looks like the body is all from the same early sixties jeep but the steering column just doesn’t look like it belongs to the jeep. Can anyone help me figure out what I’ve got?

 

looks more complex than mine, a 61. not sure what exactly, but the 55-69 look pretty much identical on the body.

 

The column is not Jeep; it's an old transplant from a car I expect. Kinda hard to say what vehicle it's from today, since the car it came from could be older than the Jeep.

Suggest you start a thread in the early CJ-5 forum, explain what you'd like to do, and ask for advice. There are other issues, like whether the Jeep has the factory steering, and what you'd like to do with that.

 

Thanks Timgr, I kind of figured it had to be wrong as it’s painted a different color than the other parts on the body. I’ll post as you suggest.

 

My sister found these in what was my BIL's shop. I don't know what they are. 2" to 3" long.
