Got it, bud! Thanks a lot! A while ago, I was rebuilding my warn hubs and someone needed a couple of the sliding pins, which I have plenty of. I offered to send him a few (I believe 2 full sets) for free and I asked him to do something nice for someone else in the future. I guess it works! Again, thanks!

Any reason my throw bearing sleeve has those bronze brazings? I was planing to get a new bearing and press it to the sleeve, but if the sleeve has been "fixed" I would probably get a new set.

I'd presume it's to fill in deep grooves worn into the the sleeve. Looks like a pretty good repair; I'd use it. However, I don't know what the "perfect" sleeve should look like... probably should wait for confirmation from somebody with F134 experience.

Same here...probably built up the wore spots and repair looks very good, I'd use it too.

Here is an NOS one if you need piece of mind:

can we get a pic of the other side?....reason I ask is repops have the "ear" (where the spring attaches) in the wrong spot...if that is an original I would use it!

BTW, I read on the Novaks page, that a new throw out bearing might not be the right thickness, even when buying the one listed for your car. Does anyone have a say in this? What is the right one? And also, he stresses the importance of aligning the bellhousing. Every video I've seen on the matter, does it with the clutch and pressure plate out. After aligning it correctly, if I dissassembly the bellhousing to install the clutch, wouldn't that throw the alignment out? What is the best way to do so? Thanks!
    Oh, I have a f134 with a t90a.

A dial indicator and some beer-can shims? Worked for me.

Can you be more specific? I am a little slow :worry:. If the misalignment is due to the input shaft not being concentric to the pilot hole my guess is that the correction is not angular, but shifting the position of the bellhousing sideways. By shimming one side or another of the bellhousing what you do is to correct any difference in angle between the bore of the pilot hole and the input shaft. If I can put an indicator after the pressure plate is installed, then I see no need to remove the bellhousing after it has been aligned. I need some one to detail me the process so I can do it right. Thanks a lot!

I had to do this on my car, I was getting vibrations and everything was ruled out. after getting cammed or eccentric locating pins it was brought down to tolerance. Personally I have only had to do this on one manual transmission vehicle, IIRC i dont think autos suffer from this. if the input shaft is not centered or concentric to the flywheel pilot bushing/bearing it can cause pre mature wear on bearings, cause loss of power, and cause vibrations. I got mine down to under 0.004". EDIT: You can remove the bell housing once the alignment is done, the dowels stay in place.

I think you are technically correct.

40 years ago, so I can't recall how much was concentric and how much was angular. But the beer can shims worked for me to stop a 4-speed walking out of gear, after an "expert" had screwed with it for a month.

You are absolutely correct, sr. There is an old saying :" better lucky than right!" I guess I'll have to try both ways, excentric pins and shims. I'll start buying beer tomorrow so I have enough shim material to work with!

I just got a clutch kit from Rock auto and I have a question. It seems to me a second throw out bearing is included. If it is, why and if is not another bearing what the heck is it?

No mystery. Makes the kit apply over a larger number of applications. This reduces stocking costs from the manufacturer on down to the retailer. Likely some nightschool MBA did a study to determine what the most efficient (ie profitable) number of different offerings would be, not only in terms of coverage but in terms of the contents.

    I like Homer.

I was going to write "University of Phoenix" but changed it to nightschool. Not to disparage any level of business education - I imagine it's the sort of thing that people with some professional business training would determine, though not an issue that would rise to the highest levels of the company.
