Was it ever offered in a CJ? I've never heard of it--and it's not likely--but you'd have to hear from somebody in the know.

No, these didn't stay installed.

 

When I first purchased our '65 it had the box which contained the heater coil, fan exactly as you described- in addition to the two hoses leading from the engine's head. In retrospect I should've fixed the system and kept it. Instead I plugged off the ports in the head and lost the parts over the years.

 

I am assuming this is my brake light switch, since it appears to be on a brake line... Can anyone confirm?

 

Yes. You actually have two, and the other is located on top of the same frame rail in the engine compartment. One is in the rear brake circuit and the other is the front.

 

Does it matter which one I connect my brake light wires to?

 

Sorry that wasn't very clear. He said there was another switch for the other circuit. I'm assuming I only need a connect to one switch so it shouldn't matter which one right?

 

You should connect both in parallel. That way if either circuit fails, you still have functioning brake lights.

Does anyone have a picture of the switch connected? I have not seen terminals like this before so I am curious how they are supposed to connect.

 

That looks like a simple on / off pressure switch.........and should only require 1 wire........hot 12v to one side and the other to your light fixture / tail light bulb to ground.

But, Before you waste allot of time I would get a test light on one side, hook the other side up via a alligator clip to a 12v source and press down on the pedal to see if it completes the circuit..........chances are that switch has seen better days and may likely need to be replaced.

Lots of rust on those parts which may be an issue finding a good ground................also have you traced the old wires from the tail lights back forward to this switch? Might be someone bypassed it?

 

For sure, I was going to test it with my voltmeter for continuity when the pedal is depressed. It is highly possible it has been bypassed and I am going to check all that out. The PO did a crazy amount of custom wiring to the point I may just pickup a kit from Painless. I was just curious what the connectors are supposed to look like that plug into those posts, as I have never seen that kind of connector before..

Windshield stand off bracket. There are two at the top of the windshield on early models, one on each side.

Thanks I couldn't quite remember what they were for. My memory is getting spotty with age.

 

Note that one leg is shorter on one side so there is a left and a right so the standoff bkt lays full flat on hood.
