Cost to sandblast a CJ5 frame?

My wife hates mosquitoes, but she's a good sport about my jeep project. She helped me retrieve all the parts from where they're stored so I could bring them home and get them ready for sandblasting. It's about 75 degrees (which is *hot* for the northwest) and she's bundled up for the arctic because there are so many mosquitoes ready to pounce.

 

To blast mine was $75.00, had to take it to the guy which was a 45 minute drive each way. Had him sand blast the draw bar too.

 

Use caution if you or a blasting service sandblast the tub or any sheetmetal. Dryblasting generates substantial localized heat that can warp and buckle the thin metal. Hoods are probably the most vunerable, but even the bed can get waves.
The chassis is heavy enough metal that there is no problem with the sandblasting warping anything.
Soda blasting is safe for sheetmetal, or even fiberglass. There are blasting setups that use water with the media. This keeps dust down, and keeps the metal cool so it doesn't warp.
