I have WAY too much time on my hands...

I track the miles driven on all my automobiles, and hours on my tractor and generator(s).

So, since 2009 I have put 316 miles on my three jeeps that have never left the property. They are free range jeeps and are allowed to roam about 13 acres of ground. For a year or so the 3B was allowed to roam on around 100 acres of ground, but it is a geriatric jeep and didn't take much advantage of the opportunity.

The herd consists of a 3B, CJ6, and a 'created' cj5. The fourth CJ5 is currently in its stall 'cause it has a little exhaust manifold / water jacket problem; actually a big one....

My goal is to get it up to 1,000 miles without leaving the property. I guess I've gotta use them a lot more.

I never calculate MPG on the jeeps -- If I did I'd probably be raided by the MPG police for ruining the rain forests. I like to think of it as contributing to the economy...

Just taking the garbage out and bringing the cans back gets me just under a mile, so I've gotta stop using the Lexus to haul the cans out...

No jeeps were hurt in the preparation of this posting...

You know what you could do is put a Jeep in low range and let it creep out to the cans and back, with you walking beside it guiding the steering wheel. You get exercise and the Jeeps get miles. :):coffee:

Friend of mine used to put a leash on his 4runner's steering wheel. Crawled so slow he said it was sometimes easier to spot standing next to it!

Yep, did that with both the FC 150 and FC 170 feeding cows. First gear, low range, get out, climb in back and start throwing bales off. Safe? Probably not but worked rather well. Certainly a time tested theme on about any ranch.

    Thanks for the chuckle kamel!

nice. the miles certainly add up over time. iv had my 2a for 13 years and only put about 1200 miles on it. more than half of that offroad. Iv only got 11 acres. Iv had an hour meter in place of the amp meter for a while
