I choose to let the leaky D18 keep the skid plate friction down

Maybe I spent too much time researching YJ's....... but I felt that I needed a steering box brace. This is a modified CJ7 brace.

A box brace is a good idea.

I'd like to make one also. Where did you get the half circle clamps for the box?

I ordered a brace for a cj7 and modified the end of the arm to mount to the 5 frame.

That's the same unit I put on mine. At first I was a little worried about that clamp gripping the tapered portion of the Saginaw box casting, but it has been on there for a year and so far it has not loosened a bit.

That's what I was worried about also. I was thinking of making my own clamp that fit the taper.

I used a die grinder to ease the round a tiny bit off of the triangle shape in the casting on the outside edge. It could be better...... but it will get the job done.

Found out why my speedometer quit working Sunday evening...... I guess it wasn't just the wine tasting at fault.

Speedometer is up and running again! Napa offers a 75" cable which makes routing much easier with the 4 speed. Seems to be of good quality and was here next day!

good grief...in California even a speedo cable can give you cancer...not to mention "reproductive harm"
Or is that from the cardboard box...

Be careful. Just looking at a picture of the speedo cable might give you cancer.
