Vertical band saw on the cheap

Awesome tool to have in the shop and it's considerably cheaper than the real thing. Plus you can remove it with one screw and use it as a portable band saw.
I bought some 10/14 blades and it chops up whatever I throw at it. The 5" cutting depth works well for most of the stuff I need.
I made a heavy stand for it, but you could just bolt it to any table. I also purchased a foot switch from HF for $10.
    Milwaukee 6238-20 for the saw.
    Place to buy table

That is nice. Many a times I use my Milwaukee band sand clamped vertically on my Rigid Tri-stand. That is a much safer idea.

How does the saw connect to the stand? Pics?

I literally just ordered that little table setup for my dewalt! It will be perfect for cutting little brackets and other small things. I'm looking forward to using it :) I've got a bunch of little ornamental flat pieces that I want to cut out, mostly straight lines, so I think this little table setup will be perfect :)

I have seen home made ones using a HF saw. If you don't have a dedicated band saw, these will get it done.

Definitely get the better saws if you can afford one... the HF has a tendency to pop blades off IMO. It is worth the price but if you want to keep using it over the years a Milwaukee would be a whole lot more durable. And maybe the guards will actually stay in place too.

Busted out a quick test, man it's real nice to use! :)

I think I might have needed a little bit more gas on the welds, I got a bit of porosity in a few of them. No filler. Still learning to TIG

Nothing like having a band saw in the shop. I have a Jet. Are you going to be art welding?

Way cool!! I was in the market for a vertical metal bandsaw a while back. I did not have one at all and was looking at picking up a porta-band or a dewalt and one of those tables. Seemed very well made.

Like your stand. And I don't think your welds are bad at all. Wish I could TIG.

I happened on a horizontal/vertical saw on CL so went with that and made a larger table.
