I am reassembling my frame brackets and I just realized that none of the donor Jeeps had the hardware that goes in the front gas tank mount (the S shaped one). Can someone tell me what is supposed to be there and a source for a replacement one. I can't seem to find anything. I am going to use a new spectre steel tank when it comes time. Here is a pic someone else posted showing the bracket.

The picture already shows what is supposed to be there...the "s" shaped bracket. The two long brackets on either side are used for the skid plate mount. To my knowledge there is no aftermarket, if you can't find a donor than you'll have to fabricate one.

I suggest you make one. Easy with some steel, a drill, hammer and a vise.

I have the brackets. I just need the hardware that that goes with them. You can see a threaded part sticking out in the picture. Thats what I am after. Is there a source for that? If not does anyone have a pick of it without the bracket so I can make one?

Iirc that stud goes through a hole in the flange of the gas tank. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

It's a bolt, as I recall. Nothing special other than the bracket.

    :iagree:

It was a bolt on mine. Standard hardware store variety.

Ok so just s 3/8" nut, bolt, and and washers for the front and longer 3/8" bolts, nuts, washers, and rubber isolators for each rear bracket. That sound right? Any one know how long the bolts should be?

Long enough to go through the bracket, and with nut and washers, at least two full threads exposed. That's the standard. Not otherwise critical.

Parts book does not tell you the bolt size, but it says 3/4" long, and there is a rubber insulator on the front bracket too.

Ok so it sounds like 1" long should do given 1/4" thick isolators. All the bracket holes are sized for 3/8" bolts.

    Thanks for the info.
