okay, so I got a new timing cover for my buick. I was going to put a rebuild kit for the oil pump in while I was at it.

I'm currently working on getting the one off the busted cover off but I think I can handle that.

the new (old) timing cover the gears won't move, any recommendations on getting the gears out so I can clean it and rebuild the oil pump?

I been reading factory service manual and searching here I'm not understanding how they come out?
Should I add some heat on the gears and tap the distributer shaft, it seems this piece should just slide down and out of the timing cover?

thanks all for any replies, I'm going to go back to napa they misunderstood the rebuild kit I was looking for. I just got a plate

okay, figured it out in case some searches this I will post it.

they slide out, I managed to get other oil pump off to check this.
the other one was however stuck I took a small propane torch and heat for about 10 min and the pressed in pin fell out. I will just heat up timing cover and tap in the main pin, the distributer shaft tapped out but it did scratch the bore. I will sand with 220 then 400.

    nickmil In mothballs.

If it was stuck I'd suggest replacing the oil pump. Cheap insurance...

Yes, I'm replacing gears, springs and using a different cover.
