After working out (good stress reliever), I went out and calmly pecked out the bolt chunk. No damage so I just need to get some bolts. Going to OKC tomorrow so I'll hit a performance shop. They should have some.

New ARP clutch cover bolts and we are back on track. I tighten these down all the way then remove one at a time and Loctite it to full torque. ARP 130-2201 Chevy pressure plate bolt kit.

    More tomorrow.

Early on in this thread the dashpot was mentioned.
I did some searching for a new one and it finally dawned on me, this is a Buick!!!
I found a Buick restoration site with dashpots for the Buick 225.
(Side note on the Fireball 225, Dauntless is the name for the 225 after Buick sold it to Willys. After AMC bought Kaiser, Buick bought the 225 back.)

Please take pictures of the details of hooking up the carb and linkages and all that is added. If stock these details will be very valuble.

I didn't find one but mine still works so I just cleaned it up. Here's a couple of pics of the linkage.

Is that the original dipstick & tube or something you fabbed? I have no tube and have taken to plugging the hole in the block between oil level checks to prevent oil spurting out onto the headers.

    It is original.

To those wondering, I've had a work stoppage. Got everything together and was hooking up the battery when the less than a year old battery terminal broke where I've never seen one break before.

So rather than throw away a perfectly good cable I ordered some DB link terminals and some new heat protection which should be here tomorrow. So I broke to paint my new shackles. Here's a pic of the jeep back together.

Couldn't work on it yesterday. New battery terminals and finished it off. Filled with break in oil, ready to prime and start up.

Where did you get the DUI from? I've really been considering going that route...

DUI http://www.performancedistributors.com/gmssdui.htm Looks like they now sell an extended version to clear the jeep intake.

Actually, I had looked for it all over and they had the best price after shipping. I don't think they were quite there outright.

Finished last night. Pete cranked right up, was immediately at 70# oil pressure which dropped to 55# as the warmup progressed. To begin with, after filling with Joe Gibbs BR30, I spun up the oil pump and primed the engine, checked all rockers for oil, then ran the drill for about 5 minutes while the wife rolled the engine over with a wrench 720°. I stabbed the distributor and she started it up. She made sure the oil pressure came up and took it it 2-2.7k and kept it there for 25 minutes, moving around within that RPM range. Still a little smoky but the cam broke in nicely and the upper engine is very quiet. Sounds powerful. Video was done but I have to take my laptop in to clear a security lock to download from old camera. I'll be working on it.
