I purchased the Goferit TRF kit, and don't feel AT ALL like a sucker for paying ~$50 for six teeny pieces of steel.... honest.

I've read what could be found here on this mod

I'm not planning on removing the knuckles to do the drilling

    So, a couple questions...

For anyone that's done this... what worked well? What didn't?

And... is the pitman arm tapered? ...do I need to flip it?

    Thanks

No need to flip the pitman arm, yes it's tapered. The 3/4" stepped bit from Harbor Freight is your friend here and will make quick work drilling out the knuckles.

And don't forget the cutting oil.

Wouldn't I want the drag link to connect to the top of the pitman arm rather than the bottom? ...and since it's tapered, wouldn't I then need to flip it to accomplish this?

Duh. A couple more sips of morning coffee and I realized my error in thinking. Disregard. Thanks for the tip

I used the Go Fer It on my D30. Take your time drilling them. I tacked the inserts in when I was finished. A couple of folks told me not to use the nuts provided. See this thread posts 131 - 133 or so.
