    Now that’s cool
Looks like the ole reliable 235 Thrift Master engine.
A Chevy would be called an Apache but what was this GMC called ?

A piece of history for sure. Had an uncle who loved to build and fabricate stuff. He took an old 40's to 50's junk Chevy pickup and put it on a newer 4X4 frame and running gear and used it as a hunting truck. He said he was always stopped and asked about it since they didn't make a factory 4X4 truck back then. They would ask if it was a Napco. These are cool trucks and when I see them, I think of him. He also took an old Jeepster, and put in a Studebaker V8, put automatic in it and put a 4 speed behind that. He had 4 overdrives and said he could run 80 MPH with the engine just barely turning over.

We had a 1958 1/2 ton Stepside Chevy “Apache” with a 6 cylinder when I was a kid.
We also had a 1959 2 ton boom flatbed Chevy “Viking” with a 283.
Oh yeah we also had a 1957 Chevy 2 ton dump truck with the 235 Thrift Master engine. I don’t recall it having a name.

Fortunately, it's in eastern NM, so only about 1900 miles from you. Road trip!

Well, it was nice having a jeep for a minute but I think I'm falling in love with the NAPCOs now... Anybody want to buy a CJ?

As a side note, that GM is a '58 or '59. I'm sure somebody more knowledgeable than I could look at that picture and tell the exact year by the turn signal bulb.

Mine is 1955. Running and driving napcos sell for 20K+. Heck, the front axle is worth a boat load of money. I've seen the transfer cases sell for 2K.

The hood is a 57 year only hood with the two ribs on the top. 55 and 56 have no ribs. 55 had a hood ornament like what I have. 56 has one similar to your 57.

These are the napco gurus. They make and sell all the little napco doodads that wear out. They do some awesome restorations.

I was looking the pictures over more closely and I was surprised to see it has the deluxe heater and electric wipers instead of the standard heater and vacuum wipers. Usually when these truck have painted grilles and bumpers, they are the stripped down models and with the napco conversion being so expensive, money was saved when it could be.
