Does anyone know who makes a replacement dash for the intermediates? The '76 and later seems to be everywhere but no pre '76ers to be found.

    Stainless would be sweet...

I'm in the middle of a '74 CJ-6 buildup and ran into the same problem. I was able to find an aluminum one from Aqualu....

That looks pretty sweet, Is it as sturdy as the stock dash? Like does it have the proper backing along the bottom and where the steering column mounts?
    Great price too...

Honestly, I don't recall if it has the backing for the steering column. On my column the "plate" that mounts the column to the dash came off with the column, so if I remember correctly the new dash should be ok in that area.

However, a smaller issue, but real nonetheless is the glovebox. The factory dash has sheetmetal tabs that were stamped in for the glovebox to mount to. The aluminum dash is just an opening, with nothing to fasten the dash to. We ended up cutting out the section from the stock dash and riveting it to the new dash. The glovebox and door work great now.

The dash, being aluminum is considerably thicker than the stock dash.

    Have you tried Classic Enterprises?

Stainless is a lot harder to work with than mild steel, and quite a lot more expensive. The dash does not corrode... why do you want stainless?

Replacement dashes are also made by MD Juan in the PI - the same company that makes replacement tubs. The regular Jeep retailers that sell body kits should be able to get one for you. These parts are not known for their high quality though.

I had mine bent up at the local fab shop for $40.

I have a half-eaten dash that begs to differ. I've never seen ANY part of a Jeep that is free from corrosion, dash included. The dash on the 78 rustbucket I bought for parts literally came off in flakes.

My dash has enough surface rust on the back side that all the grounding was bad. And this jeep was in AZ all its life

Ask for Jamie. Tell her you want 72-75 dash and pick cutouts needed. They are super folks. Oh price $189 for stainless and $139-$159 for steel depending on options.

I had one made for my 75 CJ5 by Warrior Products in Tualitin OR http://www.warriorproducts.com/contact.html . I ordered a blank one and had someone in Eugene, OR custom cut the holes with a water jet.

Heh. The only thing your dash has in common with the factory dash is they are both made from a flat piece of steel. Very different.

    Here's the factory dash:

I'm going to get a blank dash and cut it to my own wants. For gauges I've already started going with the Autometer Phantom Gages. I just wired them in and they are pretty nice. Plus I can't wait to get rid of the spedo/gage cluster. Lesson learned- Painless Harness doesn't play with the spedo/gage cluster.
