    sammy Coca-Cola?

Needed a press and as much as I love HF.....I wanted this to be made in the USoA of US or Foreign material.....So I did. 12 ton harbor freight air over jack, 6" steel C channel frame, 1" CRS pins, 6 feet tall. 2 feet wide. 22 feet of 6" was used. Gave it a test drive, and I'll have to add some bracing in the top where the jack head presses on....Most likely some 1" plate I have.

You are talented. I was just looking at the presses at HF today. I like yours better already. Their gantry crane wasn't bad though.

Buggy is on piano dollys, and rolls out of the way. Jeep hasn't been driven since mid December mehh
Still needed to build the press to remove the bearings from the pinion

Alright, that press looks good!!! I remember building my press having to drill all those f#$kin 1" holes lots of fun. A shop press is kinda like A&O torches, makes you think how did I ever get anything do before without them! Good work

When I built mine it took about 30 minutes to drill all those holes but then again a Bridgeport makes a huge difference over a drill press any day.:D

Looks good Sammy, that will be very handy. Miine is shorter in the press area but then again I have no money what so ever in mine, it was all material that came from the metal dumpster at work or given to my by friends other than the 8 ton jack I already had for years. I have been meaning to buy a 12 ton jack for about 5 years now just never seems to happen..

Sam ,did you see that Sears has a assortment of bottle jacks that are air powered? is that a air over jack?that could be kind of cool rig-ed to a foot pedal.

and what the hell is that statue thing in the back ground of #4/#5 ???? a camel with wings ? it's looking at me........

    sammy Coca-Cola?

I broke 10 hole saw center drills (even though I center drilled on my scribe marks and then shot the hole first with a 1/4" drill....) and realized the 900rpm I was running in my Milwaukee hand drill was too fast....Busted out my old Snap On hand drill ( you know, the piece of 1/2" pipe threads in for the second handle) and it runs about 300 rpm....Didn't break another one :)

I wish I had the scrap, but I used 22 feet of 6" channel for a total of $110. not bad, came out cheaper then a HF press. I wish I had a Bridgeport :(

    ....heheh shut it.......yeah it's dirty, yes I can't find anything....Yes I need to clean it.....R)

Well that one's a HF, didn't notice Sears had one. Foot powered may be neat, I could actually rig something up with the HF switch to be foot powered

And the statue is a Gargoyle my mom found at some antique shop....I'll have to take pics of the yard some day.... When the postal people refer to the house as "that cool house with all the neat old stuff"....You know yer mom's an artist. Lol.

Some conversation from my local board....I built the press to be made in the USA (minus the POS Jack that I expect to go BOOM! any day) and to be built how I wanted it to be.....And here's what I get in response.... :( mehh

....Then again the guy who has it doesn't even have a Jeep anymore, Rocktractor nor Fleg....So they may not even find out if they break.

Paint? A nice hue of rust may do well :) Actually I'm thinking some of that disgusting HF Orange.... Or Ford blue....

No it will probably get some rattle can black. It will get worn off anyway

Sammy, nice press you've built there!! Might want to consider some textured outdoor furniture paint. I finished my OxyAce cylinder cart with some Krylon gray, and it's held up well for the past few years...

As much as I hate to say it, the mechanic at work has a 20T unit from HF and it has held up well over the last 5 years. As far as the foot switch, do it. Makes working the press EZ. Had one at my last job and liked it alot. Nice work on your press.

Nice job Sammy!! When I was about 19 or 20 I welded up a press for my dads neighbor (they still use it all these years later) but bought both my 12 and 20 ton units. Sue and I bought her son a HF 12 ton unit for Christmas. You'll never regret having a press.
