Starting rust repair, lower side completely rusted through. It will be covered by some sort of body armor or sliders but wanted to repair first. There is damage to the floor just inside and forward of the rust. The damage is almost identical on both sides.

Where did you get your repair panel? Does it extend all the way to the wheel arch? I need thos and rear side panels for my 1973 cj5.

Looks like a "comp cut" done by Mother Nature with her rust saw.

PO repair.. Looks like they had lights mounted on the cowl. It must have rusted thruh so they welded a patch on top of the cancer. I cut it our crinped a flange on the parent metal and welded a patch in.

That's after replacing lower pannels on both sides repairing a previous cowl repair on both sides repairing the side supports and repairing and bracing the floors. Two applications of sanding primer, blocking, primer and two coats of white.

I liked them but I an a rank novice. According to their web site they use the same gage steel as original. They have a flange already formed on the seam edge. On the driver side I used the full parnell because I thought it would be easier, not so. There was a lot of cutting and a whole lot of spot welds to remove so do yourself a favor and go with the strip panel if it covers most of the rust.

Thanks, Going all out on the paint job, going to 2 tone the paint, you can't really tell by the pictures but the cowl vent is black, the windshield will be black and the grille has been painted black. The body has a 1" lift.

Progress has been slow, It really doesn't look like much but I have all exteriour lights and flashers working. I had a real problem with the turn signals. They worked correctally with out the ronning lights on, when I turned the running lights on I got feedback thru the running lights. After a whole lot of head scratching I foubd the PO had re wired the front sidemarkers. He had 1 wite connected to the running wire and rhe second wire to the turn signal. I finally noticed if I removed the side marker lamp it worked properly when i pluged the lamp in the socket the turn signal woulld not flash. I cut the wire to the turn signal and attached to ground and now all lights, turn signal and 4 way flashers are working.

    Cant see much progress.

Still some wiring to sort out but doesn't seem to bad.
