I know I saw the answer here somewhere but I searched and had no luck. I am looking at buying a 1947 2a. It has a very strange looking locking hub on it. It looks as there is a small piece of flat steel in the middle and two raised sections on either side. I have seen this before but I can't remember where. If I get this then I will post some pictures. It is very likely this will happen. Any help would be great.

I got 3 pairs, not rare, but the most positivity locking hubs EVER made. Only thing better is, well, welding the hubs on!

I had them on my '46, they worked fine until I had to deal with them in the ice.
Nice way to rip a fingernail off trying to get those levers/bars out.
    They are strong hub.

yep, pretty positive lock but realize you only have 2 contact points to transfer the axle torque to the hub. Warns have a double spline which is a far stronger arrangement. I broke 2 pairs of Dualmatics on my FC 150 before putting on the Warns-which are still there 40 years latter.

talking about them not coming unlocked, yea they do have that one weak point, but you would have to really have some torque coming through the hubs to break them. You had the 226 in that fc150?

Nope-134F-head, totally stock. Spent most of its time around the ranch which in this case constituted some serious wheeling. The FC's are very nose heavy which I am sure adds considerable stress to front axles (and frames, nearly all of which broke despite being factory strapped) and which would not be there in the CJ's. If you pull the iron weight out of the rear of a 150, 2 people can easily lift the rear off the ground.

I've got a set of dualmatics on my 66. Do you have to roll in reverse after unlocking to disengage them or are they free as soon as you flip the levers around.

There is just a cog wheel under the cover that fits the axle splines, the two levers have a flat on one side. When the flat is turned in, nothing engages the on the cogs so when you disengage the levers, everything should be free. No need to do anything else.

Thanks, I just wasn't sure and didn't want to pull anything apart.
