Rubber bushings on a generator??? mine is not original (now I have an alternator) but it seems that would be a very BAD idea. It would allow the generator to move back and forth causing a belt misalignment problem (eats belts). Most of the older cars I worked on had a piece of pipe that took up the slack space. You can also use washers stacked up.

As far as the belt... If you have the old one take it to the FLAPS. They can match it. If you don't have the old belt get a piece of rope and measure it around all of the pulleys. Then take it to the FLAPS. Tell them it's the "daily challenge". Make sure you pull the adjustment all the way in before you measure.

The original rubber bushing was one piece with a flange on each end that stuck out about 1/8" on each side of the hole in the bracket. The replacement ones I bought were 2 piece, with a flange on just one end, so you would need a total of 4 to mount your generator
