    Hello,

    I have an original 1978 cj-6 with VIN J 8 F 84 EA ... (in a very good shape).
According to Chilton it should be a 1978 cj-6 some export model.
I understand that in 1978 no cj-6 were available in the u.s
    - is it true? who made those export models and where?
Maybe someone here have something similar?
Any info. will be good for me.

    Thanks,
    Ziv

Made in Toledo by Jeep. Just an export model like you said.

Interesting. Some pictures would be nice. There's an unsettled debate about whether the 1976+ export CJ-6's received the same changes that the CJ-5 line did after 76 or whether they continued with the 75 and earlier styling. Does it have the wider boxed frame, narrower windshield with internal wiper motor and different floor pan?

Pict would be reallly good. Lots of picts. As pathkiller said, the export cj6's are a subject of discussion.

Ziv, here's some more interesting targets for pictures: floors, dash, under the vehicle from the rear, rear wheel hubs.

Kind of looks like the axle cap for an AMC 20 in one of those pictures, which would suggest a later-style frame. Hard to tell at that angle though. Later style taillights. Not enough detail of the frame, but it looks like the late springs, hangers and shackles.

    I'd guess it's basically a stretched domestic '78 CJ-5.

Wide track front axle? Seems like the tires stick out a lot, but that could be the lighting.

COOL Looking Rig Shoot a picture of how the door stop straps are mounted inside please. That is definatley the later style windshield frame, you can see the late style Meyers/Orville windshield filler plates for the doors and hardtop.

Thanks for the picts. Can you take some more? Timgr hit the high points of what picts would be good. But anything would be nice.

FOr what it's worth, I think you might be the first to post picts of a post 76 cj6.

This is a very rare model here. Its 258 engine + T150 gear + Dana 20 trans. Dana 30 front and AMC20 rear. The cab is orrville. Im sure its not a 100% original.
    Some more pic.:
