No you do not need to run two sensors technically the motor should be the same from side to side as long as there is not a problem.
Although you can run two sensors if you want Megasquirt can handle two but one is just fine.

I've never probed the tach signal on the HEI. I guess my initial thoughts are, does the HEI send a signal once for every revolution of the rotor, or once per revolution of the crank? I.e., the difference between CPS signal and TACH signal might be 2:1.

Anyone know what years Chevy TBI will work? I found a 96' advertised as a TBI but I thought Chevy went to TPI in 96?

Thanks, I found a 96' with a rod through the block. He has everything I need. I just want to make sure it will work on my EF 231 and negotiate price.

Mcruff, did you ever make any of these? I am interested if you have or will be. Pm me if you are.

Actually, they went to something called CSFI in '96. It is easy to mistake for TBI because it has an intake with a throttle body on top, but inside the intake is a set of injectors, one for each port, not swappable to another valley.

You will need a tach filter to smooth out the signal for the 5V ref. for the ecm. If you are just going for fuel only control.

Yes. They basically moved the butterfly from the front of the intake back to the top like a normal engine.

I'm a puss. i think I'm to scared to piece together a efi out of a junk yard. if some one could sell me a kit .I would go this way .is the MS system way out of line$$$$?and is it turn key? we just efi'ed my buddys early bronco and THAT was so easy. went to the yard opened the hood on a 5.0 lit mustang and pried off the 2bl intake.on his 302 . dump new stuff on and done.the jeep sounds like it wouldn't be that easy.

JIM.S -that is one of the sites and my buddy has one more .I'll see him soon. and yes I was looking for a kit , can you point me in a direction, so I can compare it to the stock GM astro 4.3 . I would think gm designed that efi for a bigger motor than the 225 and therefore low speed torque would suffer.not that it matters much T18/ texas d300/ 4:88. just hundreds of dollars for stock or ???? for a rtr kit.and question ,,,,I have 2 gas tanks do I need 2 pumps or can only 1 external pump be used.I'm new to this technology stuff. I like my 2gc never even had to rebuild it on the trail but there is this one hill that I'm trying to kick but it is just a little to vertical for a carb but efi would make it.

not sure I can help w/ a kit for a GM product (I'm a Ford guy)...was looking at holly 2 barrel projection...think most efi can be computer tuned for each application however. On the two tanks......the site link gave a good mag article link(a good read), they used a low pressure pump to puill gas outta the tank, then a high pressure external pump to get the pressure needed for efi...seems that could work for 2 tanks?...I'm in the same boat
Bye the bye....looked at a 302 out of a 86 Bronco...harness/computer/sensors/motor (running) for $450.....doing some research to see if that would swap easily into the 6
    Good luck, Jim S.
