I don't know doodly about the 4 cyls, but my friend who bought my MB got one today. On the right side of the block is casting # SD 807895 11-A, on the left is 2*9*5 which I suppose is the casting date. Can anyone interpret ihe numbers for me? I didn't find anything in the tech section. It is also painted black, which has some significance, right? :?

Not too much, Jim. That thread is about L-Heads. But thanks anyway I appreciate the thought.

You might try g503.com. They seem to be the experts on MBs and GPWs; they can interpret the casting numbers for you. They helped me with the GPW L-head transplant in my CJ-5; told me what year it was made, and a number of other useful bits of info.

Didn't the MBs have L-heads? Their motors were very similar to those in the CJ2A, except the timing was chain drive (on the later 2As and beyond).

I guess I should have been more clear. My friend bought an F-134 not an L-head that would be correct for the MB, the numbers are from the F-134. We think it is was built in 1955.
