Hi, I have already asked a little about power brakes previously, but can anyone show me pics of their firewalls to compare where a booster would bolt up to? I got a booster setup from a YJ but am unsure if drilling more holes in my firewall is the best idea.

I don't really have any pics, but drilling more holes was the only way we could go when we did it on the 7 project I have been working on.

Here's Dutch (not an intermediate so not sure if it'll help):

I don't have any pics of the additional hole before patching the firewall -- IIRC the brake setup put a 2" hole for the brake linkage with some smaller holes around it for mounting the pedal bracket. All of that in the same space as the heater holes on Dutch - so the patch was in order.

If you end up drilling, a Uni-bit will make life a LOT easier. Also, if your firewall flexes when you've drilled out your holes, drill out the same pattern in a steel plate to give it a little extra strength and mount that between the booster and the firewall.

by the way, here's a picture of my booster/MC combo... but it as a combo unit from NAPA... it s for an E350 ambulance. It takes up a LOT of real estate but it sure stops the 35s quick.

I was reading your post just after i drilled my firewall for my power brake setup, so here are some pictures of what i am doing, seems pretty solid when all bolted up, the center bolts go through my brake pedal bracket on the interior, otherwise i would not have used them, still have to put a boot over the large hole from the orginal master cylinder.

It is new stuff i bought on ebay from fatrodders, it looks to be pretty good stuff but the linkage on the bracket did not line up with anything so I had to do some modifying to make it work, at least I hope it will work, don't have it done yet.

does anyone know someone that has used the YJ setup on a CJ-5? I know most of the 7's have holes already drilled for it, like my brother's '82
