So the rock guards are unique to the M38A1….I like them.

Loving those old school Wagner/Lockheed parts....G740 is M38 but it's the same part for M38A1. My problem is that I can't buy just one.

Oh, they'll fit on ECJ5 with no problems. Just make sure your upper bearing cap bolts are the correct length. Lemme know if you need the spec.

Assuming you have the s-bend hardline set-up at the wheel cylinder.

Yes, true Pete. The CJ5 brake hose is longer and I think goes directly to the brake cylinder. Too dark to check on that now....

Correct. M38a1 cylinders have inverted flare holes, CJ have pipe thread(?) or something else but the hose seals on the copper washer.

Here's the 58 CJ5. The brake hose tab is welded to the frame and not the axle like in the M38A1.

    Perhaps a generalization too far.

My CJ5 has the inverted flare and the s-tube exactly the same as an M38A1. Same part number.

I believe the later style cylinder has the threaded opening aimed to the rear. The original "early" CJ has it at 90º like the M38A1.

See? The brake hose goes directly from the frame and not the axle.

Ok, last post for the day. Chassis black is complete on the frame. Arthur is on patrol looking for vermin that does not exist. He is a good dog.

I'll shoot this with 24087 on Thursday after I drop off my wife at the airport. This needs time to cure. She's headed to NYC for a few days. I personally would have driven but whatever.....

Arthur is always on the job. It looks like he approves of all the work you're doing.
He looks to be a good shop inspector.

Yes. All 1956 features, but was sold and titled as a '57. I am the second owner, and knew the first, so I'm sure it is OEM. My parts book has numbers for both "early" and "late" wheel cylinders.

I can try to get a photo, after I trudge through the woods and the snow to the shed where it is stored. Uphill both ways. :D Maybe tomorrow.
