Hello and thanks for taking time to read this.

In searching for non directional tires much like body parts, I see prices across the spectrum, can anyone recommend a budget source for 6x16 or 7x15 tires, NDCC preferably?

    Thank you!

I just went through this. It really pays to spend some search time and compare prices.

As it seems you may know, NDT can be round-shouldered, or square shouldered, which may affect pricing.

Hello and thanks for your replies!

Yes, I'm aware of the difference between NDT and NDCC, for my usage, price is the determiner over the difference between the two.

Just keep in mind that price does not effect overall value nor quality, durability, fit nor performance.
Otherwise we’d all be running Speedway brand NDT’s

I will buy my next set from Coker tires in Chattanooga, which is about fifty miles from me.

Thanks for your replies, yes, I don't want to sacrifice safety for price, I also don't want to over pay for the same item I can get elsewhere, we live in the age of markup, and am trying to avoid that.

I just bought a set of 6.00-16 NDTs from "speedytire.com". Sounds gimmicky, but I rolled the dice since they were like $84 apiece. Shipping was about $100, but the total was still cheaper than the next cheapest tire. Tubes were included. I had them mounted this weekend to a set of 16x5 steel wheels this weekend. I can't comment on quality or longevity, but I plan to run them on a T3-C I'm bringing back to roadworthy.

The NDT tires on my 1952 M38 are dated 1952 on the sidewalls. 27K miles on the speedo. Plenty of tread, still holding air.

Back when only the best was good enough for government work.

That's crazy, but I feel like the saying "They don't make em like they used to" probably applies here:)

Hows the rubber? Still pliable or are thy rock hard?

Fairly hard and nasty. It hasn't been driven in a long time, since 1973. And they were probably pretty stiff when new, is my guess. (Marked "Military.").

It would be interesting to see what a few road miles would do. But I'm putting new traction treads on it.

The spare on my '56 is the original NDT, also, kinda hard but doesn't look bad. I have several farm trailers etc with jeep wheels that have tires 40 years old and doing fine. Hold air better than my newer tires. Made with virgin materials?

But nothing I'd use for the Cannonball Baker Run.

I sometimes suspect that part of the reason NDT's got a bad rap was people were running old stock war surplus units that just didn't have the same grip as fresh rubber.

    Makes sense.

My own experience also suggests they need to be aired down considerably off-road, to allow the lug shoulders to dig in.
