Which Transfer Case ?

E3583DE8-C0FA-4702-86E8-3890B1BAD9A2.jpeg I am currently putting together a D18 for my CJ5. I needed a part so I went to the shed and grabbed another transfer case that I acquired years ago. After taking it apart I realized that the gears, which look to be brand new, are different in this transfer case than my original case. The left intermediate gear is from this case and the right is from my original CJ5. Am I right in assuming that this is the newer transfer case that has the higher geared low range and runs a little quieter ?

The only factory ratios I'm aware of for the 18 is 2.43 and 2.46
    Dana 20 was like 2.03
If it is a larger helical side and smaller straight cut than your original i'ld suspect 3.15 Tera low.

Measure the intermediate shaft diameter. The MB/GPW version is 3/4", the 2.43 is 1.125 and the 2.46 is 2.250. One is usually better off going with the 2 1/4" shaft version strength wise.

Would really be awesome if it was a Tera Low. I wonder how I could confirm that.

Been doing some research on the Google machine and it looks like I have an almost brand new Terra Low kit in a big pin and big hole D18 with a two stick setup.
Guess I should buy a lottery ticket today.

Are there any numbers stamped on the gears?
You need to match the intermediate gear to the rest of your gears.

TL20D might be Terra low D20 3.15 low range gears?

Heck yeah. I was looking at how it was larger but didn't want to get you too excited if it was a left right mixup in your text.

I am a happy camper today. Just learned that the Terra Low kit has been discontinued. Always thought I would buy one someday but just couldn't let go of the cash.

That’s the complete 4 gear set needed to build a TL D18.
Gear TL-20-E is required to build a TL Dana 20.

Mates to all Jeep Borg Warner transmissions excepting T14.
Cannot be mated to a T14 without buying a TL bowl gear overdrive.
