Haha. Yes I remember the jeep shakes that would linger in my body after a long drive, when my '67 was my daily driver. And you will be doing more than 45 through Martis.

Thanks. I was referring to the period before I tore it down in 2018 and addressed the myriad issues. All sorts of things were loose/rotten/missing: loose motor mounts, only one loose bolt holding transfer case to cross member, missing body bolts, totally flat springs, dry knuckles, totally loose steering, worn out clutch….I could go on. All of which have been addressed.

Think I am making some progress on the brakes. Over lunch I took the rear wheels off and checked that the rear shoes were just rubbing on the rear drums. The adjusters were in quite a bit, and I suspect that might have been a big part of the problem - the pedal was going all the way down and the shoes weren't tightening up on the drums. I got them to slightly drag, then bled 2x at all four corners with some small bubbles at first then only clear fluid coming out.

Now I have about maybe 1.5-2" of harder than it was (but not super hard) pedal and then it becomes super hard and won't go down at all. This was tested with my foot while sitting on the plywood seat I have temporarily over the gas tank.

Edit - Can you guys direct me to how to tighten the fan belt on a Dauntless? The FSM says 110 lbs with a new belt, but I only have a fish scale for luggage that doesn't go nearly that high. I recall there's way to gauge it with amount of deflection?

Also - do you guys think I can retro this 2Gc throttle linkage onto the Sniper throttle linkage attachment hole and the accelerator pedal?

No. I don't even know what you are attaching to, but this jeep deserves better.

Well I’m just trying to figure out how to attach the accelerator pedal to the EFI….so what do you guys think are some options? 6E53D338-9746-4F11-8107-936E74052CFF.jpeg

Sorry if I was too blunt. I said it with a smile. But that could work fine, just a cleaned up version?

Ha well yeah that rod just came out of four year hibernation in a box labeled “carb and parts” from the tragically sad carport on the side of my house. It needs bead blasted and whatnot for sure!

@Keys5a Donny I am wondering what type of roll-bar (if any) you have run on your Tuxedo Parks over the years?

Do I have the order right here for under the horn button? I can’t find my exploded parts diagram that I saved just for this purpose

Looks right. The image in the book is a little hard to see, or maybe it's me. And in my universal manual it also looks like a flatfender wheel, but I'm pretty sure the order is the same.

I’ve scrutinized that same picture but my FSM is a terrible copy and the diagrams are barely legible. It bolted up and torqued to spec so…run it!

OK thanks for the suggestion Fireball. I splurged for quic disconnects since I’m sure I’m going to have to adjust this 50 times since I don’t know what I’m doing. 9A632CD1-8490-48F6-97BD-10009B79C910.jpeg

When I have the Accelerator pedal about even with the brake pedal and I push it to the floor the throttle on the EFI opens about 60% at the floor. One issue I foresee is that it doesn’t seem to close on its own, so I think I’m going to put in a 5/16 eye hole bolt on the top of the intake manifold and add a second spring, the old carb throttle spring is shown here approximately where it will be.

I had to add an additional spring to my Sniper as well.

I had to fab a bracket to clamp the end of the throttle cable. Mounted to the rear of the intake. The spring also went there.

Stared in my engine bay for a minute this morning as I was taking the garbage out, and I’m wondering if I need to be worried about fan clearance with the radiator. I know I’m not the first person to put in an HEI, obviously I need this fan spacer to clear the vacuum advance canister. I’d say I’ve got about a half inch between the fan blade and the radiator. Is that enough?
