'55 Electrical Question

In stripping down our CJ last night, noticed this black electrical disc up under the dash. The lone long white wire had a light bulb on the other end. Other wires were already terminated. White wire likely went to speedo cluster?

Although the jeep was not equipped with turn signal set-up, it appears this was probably for a turn signal blinker. Could anyone please confirm? Thanks. 8.jpg

Hazard flasher socket? the light bulb should have a red pull knob to activate.

The turn signals would have a 2nd bulb internal to the column mount

Certainly no hazard flasher on a '55, at least not OEM. Not a thing until much later.

Even turn signals were listed as a factory installed "option/accessory" on the invoice for my '56.

That is in fact the factory turn signal flasher socket.

Welcome from Michigan. It may have had a Sparton turn signal at one time, and someone removed it. Just a guess?
