Carburetor Hood.

When trying to install the carburetor hood ( I don't really know the name of it) it does not seem to tighten enough and it rattles. My question is: is my part damaged or there is a gasket that goes in between the carb's mouth and the hood?

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

Been a while since I had my F-head.
Shouldn't his clamp be a little higher on the air horn ?

Yeah, your clamp is not on correctly it should cover the bottom of the air horn lip and the lip of the Carb.

I will try when I get home today but after initially thinking so, I noticed that there are two lips: one which the clamp is over and it matches the profile of the carburetor's mouth and the one you refer to that is flat. I do not think I can cover both and the carb at the same time. I might be wrong as I have been a lot in the past. Again, I will try to move it up tonight but the gap I currently have is very small and since I am missing the gasket that goes there I think that is the root cause. I will post updates later.

I cut one of those gaskets out of the upper portions of an old pair of rubber boots.

BTW, does the rubber hose from the horn to the air filter mounts with clamps or just by placing it there?

It uses clamps. Originals were two wires with a bolt to tighten.

You have it on correctly, but it might not actually be the correct clamp.....you should be able to tighten it so it won't move at all. Also if there is supposed to be a gasket that's news to me.

Might also be the carb is not a yf but the air horn is for one.

I'll try the toilet gasket (take the horn with to size) or boot rubber

Carb looks like a Solex, but they have a ring adapted that is shaped just like the YF at the top so the air horn should still fit just right. I assume his carb has that ring?

It's been a while since I looked at my 134's air horn are those clamps one sided for carb and one for airhorn?

Yeah, it's got an offset. I "think" his is on correctly.

I believe the clamp is the problem...might be a bit too big. Maybe aftermarket?

The base of my air horn doesn't look like that one.
