I’m going to start my Saginaw conversion soon. I access to a 64 Buick special with a 225 v6 and power steering.I know they will fit on my v6 but not sure about fender clearance. I know that the 350 high mount brackets work. I’m pretty sure the set up from the 64 special would work also but I’m just double checking. Anyone else happen to use this set up?

Some are close to the fender but I think pretty much all Buick PS brackets work.

Agreed, I'm pretty sure my dad has the 60's Skylark brackets on the 225 in his flatfender and it clears in that. Should likely clear a CJ5 too.

Its probably going to be real tight. Back in '76, I dropped a Buick 215 in my Jeep (closely related to the V6) at the same time I swapped a Saginaw steering box behind the bumper. I used a power box from an Impala and the 215 had the low power steering pump to run it. I never reinstalled the pump/bracket because it was tight, and the hoses made it even tighter. It could probably be done, but I just looped a hose on the box to test drive it, and found I didn't need the "power" steering. Well over 20 years of use, it still had that looped temporary hose.

NO! Big V8s (400-455) won't work...they look very similar to the ones used on 231-350 engines, but they mount the pump further out.

is there a low mount option? I'm getting ready to start the v6 swap on my 3b, (231 o/f) I'd love to mount an a/c compressor for o.b.a. Low mount alternator doesn't seem possible without a bunch of re engineering, AKA pain.

I thought the later 231 engines had a low mount

This is the mount that I use, this is off of and early 80’s Buick Regal with 231 v6. I just cut the top of the mount off where the alternator was or the ac compressor.

    That's pretty slick.

I'm using a similar setup to McRuff on the '51. Mounts low, D side, but still has room for the steering shaft.

I need one of those. Between my power brakes and High mount PS pump I'm out of room for HEI.
