So I bought a new throttle cable from crown for the Jeep and I was wondering if I needed to lubricate it before install?? Is it pre lubed? I’ve read both to lubricate it and to just throw it in dry.

The cable slides in hard plastic guides, so no. You should not have to lubricate it.

Got the new cable all set up and of course it is like a quarter to a half inch too short. Any way I can make up the difference??

Sure you have the right part?

    Bend the pedal?

It’s for a 1973 with the 258. Of course I have a different carb but the old cable and the new one look identical

If the new and old lengths are the same, it has to go back like it was. Length of the sheath has to match too. Maybe you don't have the plastic end all the way into the firewall?

It’s as far as it can go. If I bend the pedal the hole for the cable will be too low

Maybe remove the pedal from the floorboard, put the cable through the eye, remount the pedal?

Cut a 1/4" off the sheath?

I got it hooked on there but it’s obviously too short and the pedal is basically touching the firewall it’s so high. I’m just gonna toss the old one back on. I’m thinking I’m gonna tear the Jeep down for a full rebuild anyways somewhat soon. Maybe I’ll start a build thread(y)
