I used stainless carriage bolts, and filed the hole square, where they were exposed, and hex head where they were not seen. Lowes has a good selection of stainless bolts.

IMHO Most stainless bolts are a one way trip, the thread chews up when trying to remove them.

eh, and old farmer trick taught to me by an old farmer (my Granddad)... you drift the hole square and then cut a slot in the top for a screw driver. He made me do it with a hack saw. I use my cut off wheel now days :).

That's how we replaced the floor plating and mounting on the old Oliver Tractor when I was a kid. Dad and I used the slots when we pulled them off @ 25 years later to help hold them and it worked fine.

I picked up 4 button hex bolts for the floor area. A little higher profile than a carriage bolt but should do the trick.

All Stainless fasteners require anti-seize or they won't come off.

I used stainless pan head, slotted machine screws with anti-seize. Had a hell of a time getting the original bolts out, and did not want to go through that hassle again.

As far as galling the threads, I have used a lot of stainless bolts on duct work, yes they will gall without a lube of some kind. I use nickel anti seize, but oil will work too.
