image.jpg Any idea what this stamping means. It's on the rear passenger side of the F134 head?

Glad to know I'm not the only one that forgets crap. Now what was I doing?

Mine has the same stamp. Maybe a designation for the type of head? Regular, and a different designation for high altitude?

Edit: just throwing that thought out as an example, not suggesting that is the answer.

Is it 086 or 980? not that it matters

The assumption is that the stamping was done from the outside of the head facing towards it. For example the serial number at the front of the block is clearly done from the front of the block facing towards it.

For clarification the numbers in question are on the passenger side just to the left of the carburetor.

Could they be a Job ID number in the machine shop?

(I once received back a head that was not the one I took in…)

Have you got a civilian block or an MD block?

Right now three civilian, one MD military.

It would be interesting to see if yours have that stamping. Is MD part of the serial number? Is there anything on the head that identifies it as military?

Might take me a day or two. My Jeeps are scattered all over.

Mine has a stamp of 67. Since you can't reverse the seven I would vote for 086.

This doesn't appear to be in the same place as the OP number and is a different shape surface. But I found it on the curb side rear of the head.
