68 should have the foam cushion seats while 63 still had the spring seats.

Here's a page from a late 1965-dated brochure for the '66 model year. It doesn't show the seat real well, though you can get a good idea of the pattern. I don't know for sure, but would think the OEM seats from '68 would be identical.

The back seat is from an unkown, but the front seats are correct for mine. 68/69. Passenger seat folds and tumbles forward, foam cushions.

Maury, that brochure picture clearly shows the snorkel cutout in the hood, as well as the "V6" emblems. I haven't figured out when in '66 the cutout disappeared.
Your brochure also shows the front seat to be the foam style from the gap between the back and the bottom cushion, and there is no mounting bar visible in the door opening (another '66-up hallmark).

    Hi Donny,

That's very interesting, thanks for the info! I did not know that the seat mounting bars changed in '66. My (early) '67 CJ5 was built in August of 1966, and has the "visible" mounting bar:

  10. Hi everybody thanks for the good information. I was thinking of buying a another Jeep 1968 with a V6 in it. The guy
is asking $2,000 for it I would imagine you could probably get it for Less.

    Looks like it has potential,

The Common Sense part of me says John you can only drive one car at a time why do you need another vehicle. So I think I've talked myself out of it if anybody out there is interested look in the San Francisco Craigslist under Willy's I believe or Jeep it's in Oakland California which is not far from San Francisco thanks for all the good information out there have a good winter stay safe or as they say Keep The Sunny Side Up.
