I recently got my grandfaters jeep from his estate and hope to restore it. The jeep holds a lot of fond memories for me and i would love to see it back in use. I believe he told me it was a 1956 that he got in about 1958. My guestion is about the gauges. Has anyone seen these before?

Your Jeep has gauges from an automobile. Jeeps have the one big speedometer like you have, but they never had smaller gauges in that location.

We have a serial number document in a link at the top of the forum. You should be able to narrow down the year of manufacture from that.

Thanks for the answer. I was pretty sure they were not stock. Where is that link I don't see it.

Will do. ive checked for the vin/ser number plate and it is gone. i checked the frame near the passenger front wheel and there is a number there but very hard to read. I need a way to enhance the numbers.

Sometimes lightly sanding the frame will let them show up better or using a liquid like brake cleaner will fill in the indentions. Wiping away the excess sometimes will allow the indentions to show up with contrast.
