These are some old pics I found of my Grandpa's jeep, pics are dated 1968 an 1969, pic with my Grandma in it is jeep right after he got it, other pic is after he got a new paint job. ( can't believe they put dog on hood of new paint job. I have been trying to fiqure out what year this jeep was, and has anyone ever seen an emblem like the one he had on grill? My Grandpa died in 1970, so I know because of this and from dates on pics it must be earlier then 68, it looks a lot like my 56. Any one have a guess to the year? Thanks, Bruce IMG_20160505_175510469.jpg

From the faux battery box cover it's pre-64, from the big parking lights (I'm guessing) post '61-62-ish.

The smaller glass parking lights were used through '63.

Parking lights appear to be amber, weren't they '64 or later?

The following leads one to think grandpa's Jeep was a 1964 or 1965. Was the fresh paint by the late 1960's? Makes one wonder.

Some say, Park Light With Amber Lens 1964,65 to 1968,69. (If the lenses got changed jeep could be older.)
Some say, Faux battery box cover on passenger side cowl, 1955-1965, others say '64 and older; wipers mounted on top through '68.
Some say,The grille emblem was NEVER used on a CJ. Never. The emblem is perhaps a 1963-67 JEEP WAGONEER J10 J20 FRONT GRILL EMBLEM. Also used on Commandos. Red and gold were the Kaiser/Jeep emblems. When AMC bought Jeep in Feb. 1970, they changed to the AMC red and blue

The battery lid carryover was gone by '64, at least after April or so. My guess is the Jeep is a '62 or '63, with a Commando emblem mounted on the grill.

Thanks guys!! I would say you guys are the best, I couldn't even find anything on that emblem. So I agree that it must be like a 62 or 63. Thanks again!!!

Also the pic with rust on roof was dated 68 and fresh paint dated 69, so paint job was in early part of 69. My grandpa was a tinkering kinda guy, so I'm sure somewhere he found that emblem and thought it would look good on his Jeep. In the short time I got to spend with him, I was born in 1960, he died in 1970, he was my best buddy, at about age 6 or 7 he was letting me drive that Jeep on one of the many adventures he would take us on thru the woods!!! Thanks again guys!!!

The plastic amber parking lights would make it a '64 at least, if original.
