All of the posts I have seen regarding the correct P/S box for a conversion seem to refer to a 60s, 70s, or 80s GM box. When I talk to various Pick and Pulls, they tell me about 3 years ago scrap metal was very high and they sold most everything of that vintage.

Can anyone give me a Saginaw rebuilt number from Cardone that will work in a 2A. 3-4 turns lock to lock, 13/16 36 spline etc.

Also look at Autozone part 6529. If you sign up for the club you can get free shipping and 20% off.
This is the large 4 bolt unit with 4 turns lock to lock and 36 spline. This is the one I'm using.

Thanks guys, but will a 4 bolt box bolt up to a AA 3 bolt plate?

I'll need a 3 bolt box for my PS conversion, too.
I'm using a stock intermediate CJ mount.

The plate I got from aa is four bolt. Used a three bolt manual box on it. I would think the three bolt bracket would work for a four bolt box just would have the fourth bolt out in space.

1972-75 manual steering gears got a 3-bolt bracket. Power steering got a 4-bolt bracket.

The 3-bolt Chevy S-10/Blazer 4WD gear is popular with the Wagoneer crowd. Newish examples can be found in the yards, the newer design is more durable than the older gears (older gears tend to go sloppy when they wear), the 4WD variety has more turns than the 2WD, and it's a variable ratio gear. Considered a significant upgrade for a Wagoneer, even though it has one fewer bolt than the original gear.

Yes. They are interchangeable with the addition/deletion of a bolt. IIRC Jeep only supplied one part - the 4-bolt bracket - as a service part for all applications.

can you pull any saginaw PS box and would it work on the CJ5 1966 V6 or are there certain vehicles that work best? Everyone mentions saginaw but not what they pulled it from. Looking to go to pick and pull this week.

you pretty much have to stay in the truck field . full size or S10 RWD as stated .pitman arm facing to the rear . the hardest part is finding pump brackets for a buick 231/350

but stick with GM trucks like GMC Sierra or Chevy Silverado of any year. S10 any with pitman arm to the rear. correct. I see an offer for a pump, bracket, and box on ebay. 200.00 seems high if i can get it at a local pick and pull

for newer vehicles you will need adapters for the Oring connectors to the P/S pump unless you pull the whole shebang.

AsI understand it, the adapter to the o-ring style hose screws into the back of the flare nut connection. You can go to the junkyard and take the adapter from a GM steering pump. Then buy hoses that match the type of gear, say from a YJ for o-ring type?

I could get it all from a early (84-?) GM truck as long as i stay away from newer vehicles like 2000+
