Just tried to order the master cylinder upgrade kit from R&P and my order was denied. They don't ship the kits to Canada? Is this new? Can anyone recomend a similar quality product that someone might be willing to ship to Canada?
    Thanks!

  2. I didn't know they didn't ship to Canada and I wouldn't really know why not. I don't know of any other good dual brake kits, from what I have heard it sounds like the only great bolt in kit is R&P. I bought a R&P kit for my cj5 and ended up using it on my cj2a instead and it seems like a great kit.

I believe other companys have bought the R&P kit and are re-selling them for a little more. it might be you need to go that route to get it to Canada. Kaiserwillys.com has what looks like the R&P kit for sale here http://www.kaiserwillys.com/product/2298/willys-jeep-brakes-master-cylinders-parts-accessories for $245 and they might ship to Canada or keep searching and other distributors may do the same for cheaper. but its a start for you

Did you try calling them? I am sure they would be able to work with you.

Last year I had to have a shipment FROM Canada, of paint. It had to go though Homeland Security procedures and could only ship to a business location with a Federal ID number. Cost me a fortune.

Maybe you are running into something similar?

The one at Kaiser looks exactly like the one at R&D! I bought it, and a few other things I'm going to need. Big order, too bad for R&D.
I don't know why they won't ship the MC, they seemed to be fine with the gas tank? Odd, but the parts are on the way, and Kieser didn't charge shipping, so I think it came in cheaper.
Thanks for the help (again!) Even at midnight!

Did you contact R&P directly? Try calling fhem or emailing them? if you just tried via their website it may just be an issue with the website. They are not computer type guys.
I'm sure they will ship to Canada. They've shipped all over the world at different times.
And yes, the kit Kaiserwillys sells is the R&P kit.

I often have to ship parts to Canada. It is a PITA for the shipper and consignee - UPS charges are ridiculous, and there needs to be VAT and customs duty paid. Much easier to have them ship to a USA drop point near the broder, then get it picked up by a Canadian and brought in.

Herm also has a dual MC kit - tho' it is different than the one R&P sells.

Never ship UPS across national borders, USPS is the way to go.

Don't swallow UPS's line about customs duties & GST (VAT)- it's for the most part bull, there's no customs duties shipping to Canada from the US since NAFTA came in unless country of origin is marked as someplace outside of North America. GST only gets collected for indicated value over, IIRC, $200 & in my experience most of the time packages get through without that anyhow. The real issue with UPS is the outrageous brokerage fees they charge for doing 30 seconds worth of electronic paperwork, usually 100%+ of the indicated value of the shipment. The post office, when they actually do charge for it, costs $5.

Totally agree!!! Many Jeep parts are made in the US, which means there should be NO Duty! But UPS still charges you a "Brokerage fee" that ends up being much higher than if it did have duty.

Nickmil - No I didn't call them, I was working a Night shift and didn't think they'd be open, (placed the order at 2am Pacific time) I was happy with the parts from Kaiser, so I just bought them. Don't know if its a web issue - might be. The web sight was happy to ship the Fuel tank I wanted, but not the MC kit. Just kept saying Can't be shipped to Canada. Sadly we encounter that a-lot up here, We are 1/10 the population of the US, and many companies don't think our market size is worth the effort. When I encounter this I just move on to the next company that offers what I want.

I will be up at their shop on Monday so I will mention this to them. They may be unaware of it. I can't see why the mc kit couldn't be shipped there.

Thanks, I'd like to know what their policy is when you find out. They have a few other parts that I like and would still like to order from them if possible.

order from herm the overdrive guy. I order his kit to vancouver island and no issues.

Then post up the problems when his kit doesn't fit or work correctly and he can't/won't help you sort them out.
That's why Kaiserwillys now sells the R&P kits when before they were offering the Hermtheoverdriveguy kits.
They got tired of Herm not standing behind his master cylinder conversion kit. I've held his kit in my hands. All it is, is a copy of the factory CJ '67-'71 mounting bracket and is using iirc an AMC Gremlin master cylinder. it is not engineered to fit the earlier single reservoir Jeeps.
We've had several customers with his conversion come into the shop for us to fix their brakes because they can't get them to work with the parts he supplies. As often as not the parts supplied are incorrect for the application. Plus, the bracketry and mc are a bear to get mounted, lined up correctly, and to run/modify the brake lines.

    Do a search. Covered exhaustively.

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

I read this post as being about shipping to the Great North
Not a commercial for R-P and a gripe session Nick....

  16. I didn't see it as a commercial for R&P or a gripe session...When I did my brakes, I did a thorough search on upgrade kits & went with R&Ps. Nick is spot on.

So you wouldn't want to know about documented issues with someone's product? If I saw the same thing with R&P's product I'd say the same about their product.

Ok Bolerpuller, I spoke to John at R&P today and explained about this post and the issues. They will ship international but currently you have to contact them directly for international orders. It has to do with the store portion of the website and shipping calculations that have to be entered in for each country, area, whatever. He said they are working on it but right now they must be contacted directly.

I did mention to him that it would be nice from a customers standpoint to know this up front and might be a good idea to have some sort of alert or statement to this effect so people outside of CONUS know what's going on.
What they do with it I have no control over, but I've let them know.

Thanks for your help! As said I made my purchase through Kaiser this time, but next month my wife might let me pick up a few more parts :)
and I'll contact them by phone.
    Thanks again!
