does a 55 have back up lights?

    waynaferd Hey, ya'll watch this!!

Mine came to me with the grommet style lights on a big rig trailer that sit flush, not the original tail lights...anyway, even after looking at a bunch of pics online I think I can conclude some didn't come with back up lights?

Don't think I need any if not!

    Thanks!!

I'm pretty sure that's a no. Don't know when they DID come out with backup lights, but I'd bet it was long after 1955.

You can always add some, not real hard to wire in with a toggle switch. May not be a legal requirement but seeing where you're going when backing up is handy.

    This '56 didn't have any.

I like the look of a single, old, metal work light mounted on the back for a back up light. Maybe mounted to the draw bar.

Thats a Borg Warner switch number S9151 right? That can also be used in a T-14 transmission with great success!

IIRC it's an Echlin replacment from NAPA the cross references to the Jeep PN.

    I just added NS6574SB (V12045) Napa switch to my t98. You'll need a 5/8 x 18 tap and a 9/16 drill (37/64 is spec but I stretched the 9/16 to work).

Switch was about $11. If you don't need the depth of the male component from this switch, the standard switch from a late T18 ford will also work, but uses a smaller tap iirc, it's 1/4 NPT.

    dunno if that helps.
